Simpson Desert Solo Walk
Exploring the North West Cape
You couldn’t be in safer hands
Trek Ningaloo was founded on a passion to explore and share the beauty of the North West Cape and the Ningaloo Coast. After making Exmouth his home, Ian Vickers spent years exploring the gorges, ridges, and coastal plains of this remarkable region, developing a desire to connect others with the landscapes and stories that make it so unique. Today, Trek Ningaloo is recognised as a trusted operator, guiding small groups into the wild heart of this extraordinary place.
Trek Ningaloo is owned and operated by Ian Vickers. Since childhood, Ian has had a deep love of the outdoors and has been lucky enough to have lived, worked, and trekked in some amazing locations. This has allowed him to explore and immerse himself fully within the many places he has called home.
Ian has had an adventurous life and career to date, serving as an Infantry soldier with the British Army, an Interpretive tour guide in the Northern Territory, a divemaster in Thailand, and practising as a Registered Nurse in Darwin, Papua New Guinea, Cape York and more recently here in Western Australia.
Among other adventures, Ian has walked solo across the Simpson Desert, cycled across the top of Australia, and, for good measure, returned to cross the Simpson Desert again (by bicycle).
“Trek Ningaloo is not just a Trekking Company. Trek Ningaloo is a culmination of a lifetime of adventure and experience; it is of a desire to take you on an unforgettable journey to share my knowledge of trekking of the outdoors and this amazing part of Australia. Whether you’re an experienced trekker or a keen novice I will safely guide you on an adventure that will give you far more than you seek.” Ian Vickers
